About

I set my goals high in life, devoting five successful years to higher education, eight years of full time work in the Information Technology industry, including four years running my own web development consulting business. I have worked in both Australia and the United Kingdom. I’ve hiked and cycled unsupported, around Australia extensively. I have a strong passion and enthusiasm for developing creative web and mobile applications. I have excellent problem solving skills.

Crash Assist

This application assists drivers in the event of an accident. Features include:

  • Call emergency services.
  • Online database of repairers.
  • Web based Content Management System to update repairers.
  • Automatic updates of live database.
  • Capture and view photos from the camera.
  • Detect location and reverse geocode a street address.
  • Save accident details and send via email along with saved personal/insurance details.

The Android version was created for AARN with Bravo Tango Bravo. The BlackBerry verison was created specifically for DuPont drivers.

Truckie’s Mate

This Android application was developed for Western Star Trucks. It is made to assist truck drivers with useful information they might need while on the road. It’s intended that these drivers have limited computer knowledge, so this is as simple as possible.
Features include:

  • Searchable database of truck stops/dealers.
  • Call emergency services.
  • Record details of accidents (date, time, location, vehicles, witnesses, photos, insurance).
  • Website links
  • Live feedback.

Pickup Wingman

This Android application is a social networking platform which is designed to complement the website. It was developed using PhoneGap, using standard html, css and Javascript.
Features include:

  • Login and register new account on live database.
  • Update account settings, capture and post photos.
  • Detect location and share to other users via application and website.
  • Search for other members or view on Google map.
  • View live articles.

  • Self-run consulting business offering website and mobile development to small and large companies.
  • Designing and developing commercial web sites and Content Management Systems for companies such as Mackay Rubber, Westar Trucks, Patterson Cheyney, SmashCare, Australian Calibrating Services, Kempe Engineering, Frigrite and Sokol Furniture. Systems Developer
  • Updating the information systems used within the office, using Microsoft Access, Excel and VBA scripting languages. The new systems were built around the company’s new Key Performance Indicator requirements and reporting on each department’s monthly progress.
  • Developing database management systems to handle:
    • The scheduling of the Borough’s highway inspectors to be viewed in Excel and synchronised with their mobile devices.
    • Project Engineers/Manager delivering of projects for the London Borough of Ealing.
    • Applications for residential and commercial vehicle crossovers.
    • Insurance claims against the company, council and contractors.
    • Correspondence between the public and the council.

Project Systems and Technical Support Officer
  • Website maintenance for several departmental websites. This included uploading content for lecturers such as event registration, up to date course information, travel blogs and online learning tips.
  • Programming complex online surveys using php and MySQL, used to assist in postgrad doctorate research.
  • Updating and coordinating the production of student learning materials, both print and online.
  • Training students to use MUSO (Monash University Studies Online). I came up with exercises to engage students in using the forums, downloading materials and submitting assignments.
